Kae'lee Nighthaunter

The stumbling speech and ratty hand-made clothes suggest a young miqo'te woman of questionable means. The sharp tongue and quick wits tell a different story...

Known Details

Woe be to thems that defies the Woodsy. For theys shall be cast out into the world through the veils of pain and fire.

First emerging from the Black Shroud somewhere near Gridania, Kae'lee claims to be the lost daughter of a small nomadic miqo'te tribe. She has since made a quiet name for herself selling pelts and hides in Ul'Dah, rare herbs and reagents in Gridania, and her skills as a hunter in Limsa.
While she seeks to return home to her tribe and family it has proven to be a difficult task. Kae'lee has started to accept that she need live among the "paths of men" for a time. This has entailed learning strange customs, and eliciting aid from strangers, but also plying her paleolithic skills in the modern era. Something which has proved surprisingly applicable, and profitable!

Navigating the modern world, or the "Paths'o men" as she calls it has had its challenges. Isolated from civilization until just a few short years ago, Kae'lee sometimes struggles to understand or properly contextualize the situations she finds herself in.

Personality

Bricky roads they trappers grass, stoney walls they trappers wind, iron stove it trappers fire.
Trappers is we by the works of hands, and forget us we were ever free…
- Kae’tribe proverb

A petulant, sometimes skittish woman, Kae'lee tends to be cautious around men, and open with women. Polite in her own way she strives to be friendly to all till given cause to be otherwise. She is particularly fond of stories and folklore, the sharing of which is best done around a warm campfire.

  • OOC: Lee's story is a classic fish out of water, as her own values and presuppositions tend to clash with those of the 'civilized' world, often in comical ways.

  • Food holds an almost religious aspect for her, and much time spent in the three major cities has been dedicated to sampling each city-states cuisine. Above all her tribe and upbringing emphasis frugality as a virtue, for food is never to be wasted.

Roleplaying Hooks

Curious to a fault, Lee can be unabashed with her interactions, wandering around and inquiring why people or things are the way they are. If you'd prefer to be approached then DM me and I'll think of a reason for Kae'lee to walk on up.

  • Kae'lee sometimes struggles with the concept of money and as such she is often looking for odd jobs or mercenary work, especially when she finds herself in need of useless coins. After all the exchange rates the merchants of Ul'dah offer in trade for useful things such as quality flint or bones and teeth is quite low.

  • Perhaps she 'borrowed' or stole something. It's not really her fault, Lee just has a different understanding of what property rights are. To her, the only things a person -can- own are what they carry with them and this has gotten her into trouble in the past. Turns out that just because someone put down their coffee mug does not mean you can simply take it and drink it for yourself.

  • Maybe you've heard of the Kae tribe before? Rumors of an elusive band of miqo'te poachers who roam Eorzia from the borders of Gyr Abania to the coasts of La Noscea and even as far north as the Dravania hinter&forelands. Barbaric women said to ambush and kill the unaware in the dead of night- their remains never to be found again. Surely this sweet and strange cat girl couldnt be like them... right..?
